Hello

Hi, I’m Sangho Kim. I'm a high school student who loves both art and math. Art always provides me space to express creativity, while math teaches me logical thinking and problem-solving. These two passions naturally led me to explore UX/UI design, where creativity and structure come together. Through GAP, I want to share what I’ve learned and build a space where students can support each other.

My Story

When I first arrived in the U.S., the first few months were honestly a nightmare. I had to adapt to an entirely new environment, new school system, and unfamiliar expectations. Previously, I attended a Korean international school in Indonesia, so my brain was wired for a very different approach to education. I had no idea what GPA, SAT, AP, or EC meant, let alone how to navigate them all together.

While trying to adjust to my new classes and life, I barely had time to research what I needed to prepare for U.S. college applications. By the time I felt somewhat stable with my grades and daily routine, it felt like I was already behind. Everyone else seemed to have started preparing years earlier.

I started searching online, but that led to even more confusion. There were too many opinions, and much of the advice I found didn’t apply to someone with my background. Some information was vague, some misleading, and some just promotional material disguised as guidance. Even ChatGPT couldn’t help much. It kept giving me overly optimistic or generic strategies that didn’t fit my situation. I found myself spending hours trying to piece together bits of information, verify it, and decide whether it applied to me or not.

It was frustrating and exhausting. But that’s exactly why I decided to build a platform called GAP. I wanted to help other students like me. Not the ones who’ve been preparing since middle school, but the ones who moved countries, changed systems, or started late without access to reliable support.

At first, I didn’t know much about making a website, and I ran into many errors and challenges. But I actually began to enjoy the process. It became more than just a personal project; it felt like a way to turn my struggle into something helpful for others. Now, GAP is my attempt to offer clear, student-centered, and trustworthy resources, particularly for students from international or underrepresented backgrounds. If I can help even one person avoid the confusion, I’ll consider it a success.

If you feel like you're behind, I just want to say:

you're not alone. Starting late doesn't mean you're too late. Failing isn’t giving up. it’s just another chance to try again

Hello

Hi, my name is Dongheon. I’m still a beginner, but I’ve started learning coding with determination. Even though I have a lot to learn, I’m eager to keep studying and improving step by step. I’ve always enjoyed science and math, and that curiosity naturally led me to explore coding. I know it will take time, but I’m motivated to work hard and make steady progress.

Recently, I began working on the GAP project, where I’m helping to develop the voting feature that will allow users to validate information together. The system is still a work in progress, but it has already given me valuable hands-on experience applying what I’m learning and collaborating on a real website. It’s been both challenging and motivating, and it continues to inspire me to grow as a developer.
